A film distributor is a company that gets films into the cinemas, DVDs/BluRays and onto other sites such as iTunes. The film distributor makes sure that there are enough film copies for the potential audience of the film, this also includes sending DVDs, BluRays etc. around the world. 20th Century Fox for example is major film studio that has its own distribution subsidiaries.

Our film is a small studio film and is also on a low budget so it would be distributed by a smaller film distributor, this film would be promoted by smaller local cinemas and by local film festivals. I think that Dogwoof would be a good film distributor because even though they're a small film distribution company they are quite successful at film distribution,

I believe that our film could potentially become quite successful, it would start off at film festivals and in small local cinemas, come out on DVD and then perhaps may become recognised by larger film distributors. Sometimes a lot of money is spent on a film and it is not always potentially good.
In 1999 a film called "The Blair Witch Project" was made with $60,000 and created a gross profit of $249,000,000. This a perfect example of a low budget film that has become successful because of a film festival named The Sun dance festival. The film became much more successful because they decided to say it was based on real events and this added a unique selling point (a lot of other films such as paranormal activity have used this idea), so this allows people who like to be scared a potential experience while watching this film.
Our production would start off at an independent cinema to attract smaller audiences, this would hopefully sooner attract more people and hopefully "Something In The Way" would make it to larger cinemas such as Odeon and Vue.

Our film has a target audience of men and women aged from 18 to 35. I think that our film should be advertised on Facebook and Twitter because a lot of people use these social networking sites so this may attract a larger audience. Trailers could also appear on YouTube because of how many people use the site in a day so this could also target a larger potential audience. There are many horror film trailers on YouTube, such as;
Our film could potentially have a global audience because it has a professional feel to it because it has been checked over and over for mistakes. People can spread the word via mouth and make the film much more well known and would also convince people to want to see it.
